Cockwells Export to Norway

This week Cockwells launched their latest exquisite gentleman’s launch with a wonderful Champaign ceremony. This 27ft motor launch is a custom build based on the hull of the ever popular Duchy 27. The highly skilled team at Cockwells have spent seven months building this fantastic craft which will soon be heading to the Norwegian fjords where it will be enjoyed as transport between the client’s Island home and the mainland.

At the launching ceremony the owner christened the boat ‘Farouk’ in memory of his best friend. After the Champaign was smashed over her bow, ‘Farouk’ rolled down the slip into the waters of Mylor Creek for the first time. The new owner and his close friends enjoyed a fabulous sea trial which proved to be even better than expected: “The custom build of this modified Duchy 27, to an open Picnic launch, has surpassed all my expectations. The sea trials demonstrated the seaworthy nature of this design and the quality of the joinery workmanship is superb. This is an elegant boat and I am lucky to be the proud owner”.

The boat is powered by a single 115hp Nanni engine that propels the boat up to 18Knots. The hull is constructed from GRP while the deck house is solid teak along with all the beautiful internal joinery. The spacious cockpit has seating for twelve guests to sit around two removable tables on comfortable Sunbrella covered cushions. Down below there is a toilet and additional seating in the form of a v berth with removable bed infill which allows two to sleep on board. The cockpit galley is equipped with a single burner and sink, a fridge and custom tool and glassware drawers.

“As well as being a great sea boat and truly beautiful we know she will become a member of the owners family and be well-loved for generations to come.” Dave Cockwell, Managing Director. Even with this project successfully complete, Cockwells still have a full order book which brings the need for even more skilled engineers, boat builders and project managers. The latest contract signed is for an 8 metre custom superyacht tender which the yard has now started to build.

“Now with clients worldwide, Cockwells’ reputation for building beautiful boats to the highest standards is spreading far and wide. I would like to say well done to my team at Cockwells for delivering this, our latest classic launch, to a fantastic standard and on time! It’s a real pleasure for all the team at Cockwells to be asked to design and build these fantastic craft.” Dave Cockwell, Managing Director.

During the month of May Cockwells are hoping to sign another new build contract. They are exhibiting at the Jersey Boat Show (3rd to 5th May) and the Sandbanks Boat Show (10th and 11th May) where they hope to introduce more people to the Duchy 27.

Cockwells also once again proud to be sponsoring the Pendennis Cup from the 26th May and will be providing two tenders to transport VIPs during the regatta. This will allow guests to watch the racing up close. The winners of the Little Dennis Cup will also be presented with a trophy from Cockwells.

Cockwells Launch ‘Impulsive’

The team at Cockwells are very proud to launch ‘Impulsive’, a 33ft launch which fits into the fabulous range of custom motor launches they have already built. The new boat, which offers a whole new level of luxury, has been specifically designed to meet the owner’s exact requirements and lifestyle. Only the finest materials have been used with the latest technology in order to create a comfortable and luxurious cruising environment.

For effortless and accurate control on board an advanced joystick control system has been fitted which also features an anchor mode to hold the boat within a metre of any set co-ordinate. Other luxuries include on-board Wi-Fi and a digital TV in the saloon which is on a motorised lift so it can be discreetly hidden away when not in use. In the well-equipped galley guests will find a hob, sink with hot and cold running water, microwave and a Nespresso coffee machine along with custom storage for cutlery and crockery. The detailed leatherwork on the helm and saloon seating complements the hand crafted woodwork perfectly, making this area a wonderful place to be. Custom storage in the saloon includes a tool drawer, wine rack and bookcase.

The highly skilled workforce at Cockwells enjoyed working with the client and they are delighted that the finished boat is beyond his expectations:

“When commissioning a new boat the design brief to meet your personal needs is a very important part of the process. After our first meeting it was clear Dave Cockwell shared my vision for this new boat. To be involved in the build process and witnessing the great craftsmanship, attention to detail and fine design was really enjoyable. The outcome is beyond my expectations a classic boat with beautiful finishes but with a contemporary edge and the latest technology.” – Owner Stephen Hubbard

Managing Director Dave Cockwell added: “It’s been a real pleasure working with our client on this project we had a very clear brief and we think we have understood the intended use of the vessel and created something that has surpassed his expectations. I am very proud of my team who have gone to exceptional lengths to meet the brief. We are now very much looking forward to the next challenge.”

Cockwells have got numerous builds on order with more to follow and they are currently in the process of recruiting a number of new posts within the company. These include positions for all boatbuilding trades as well as sales and marketing staff.
